Earning ended subsistence worst

Easily the cruel time took human life,
Eye of husband cries in death of wife
Every where sorrows people ate leaf.

Entire world like a family God our father,
Ethiopia people if face famine pressure
Each country on our earth help to offer.

Eye tears fall when mind feels the famine,
Environment pollution for famine reason
Entire earth’s bad future please save divine

Famines in Ethiopia 1983–1985 (Poetic form : Haku)

PK ROY, India

The famine devastated
the country; a few millions left
their homeland to save their lives.

Leaving behind millions dead;
But why the misfortune for those
helpless souls, what was their sins?

Two decades of wars, conflicts
had raged the country, violence
against people brought grief.

The economy of the
country depended on mostly
agriculture and allied.

Almost total failure of
crops compounded by the fighting
hindered passage of relief.

Combined effects of famine
internal war put nation’s
econ into full collapse.

The historic famine was
result of the way the civil
wars were waged in the country.

Sometimes, food stores were seized to
to feed huge armies of tens of
thousands of military.

In other cases, cattle
and crops were confiscated as
military strategy.

Innocent common people
suffered, couldn’t survive and many
fled away to save their lives.

Emperor Haile Selassie I (1892–1975) (Poetic form : Haku)

PK ROY,India

The Last Emperor of the
country was fearless, selfless, and
a strong leader to lead mass.

He helped his country and their
people in their time of need, not
stopped to think about himself.

He faced problems fearlessly
stood up for what was right acts, took
right steps to end violence.

He was the first African
leader to become notable
figure on the global stage.

He appealed to the League of
Nations when the Italians did
invade Ethiopia.

He is still now remembered
as a modernizer, also
a great African leader.

His major steps are reform
of land, emancipation of
slaves, revised constitution.
